Yesterday, we were honored to present a check in the amount of $5,000 to the Team Gleason Foundation to help support their mission to provide equipment, technology, care and adventures to those living with ALS! These funds were raised through the sales of Gleason IPA at local on and off premise accounts along the Mississippi Gulf Coast. We would like to thank our old pal Tim Wold and Port Orleans Brewing Company for bringing this program to us and our local retailers and consumers for supporting it. Co-owner, Zach Strief, also announced that he and his wife will be matching the donation dollar for dollar to bring the total to $10,000! Money raised for a great cause, one pint at a time! #teamgleason #gleasonipa #nowhiteflags https://www.wlox.com/2019/02/13/zach-strief-gives-back-team-gleason-with-an-assist-south-mississippi/

FLAGSHIP FEBRUARY SPOTLIGHT: FAT TIRE AMBER ALE by New Belgium Brewing The Fat Tire story from co-founder, Kim Jordan: "We started Fat Tire in 1991 when my then-husband took a bike trip through Belgium tasting Belgian beers. We were inspired by that trip to bring a more interesting beer to American drinkers; a new option among the countless bland, mass-produced, big company beers. But what makes Fat Tire really special is simplier. Unlike many beer companies, we never sold out to a bigger company. New Belgium Brewing Company is 100% employee-owned and proudly independent. From the beginning, I’ve said that when you put people before profits, it’s amazing how priorities shift. Because business can, and should, be a force for good. Fat Tire is a testament to that belief. And it inspires how we act as a company. "We brew Fat Tire with the same high-quality, natural ingredients we used in the original recipe – no weird additives or industrial fillers that many big companies use. You won’t find a lot of bells and whistles or exotic hop combinations either, just an easy-drinking Amber Ale that’s stayed true to its roots for over 25 years." #newbelgium #fattire #flagshipfebruary #craftbeer #tryitagain

FLAGSHIP FEBRUARY SPOTLIGHT: BOSTON LAGER by Samuel Adams One of the first beers to introduced us to craft beer, way back in 1988! Samuel Adams Boston Lager helped lead the American beer revolution, reviving a passion for full-flavored brews. It is the best example of the fundamental characteristics of a great beer, offering a full, rich flavor that is both balanced and complex. It is brewed using a decoction mash, a time consuming, traditional four vessel brewing process discarded by many contemporary brewers. This process brings forth a rich sweetness from the malt that makes it well worth the effort. Samuel Adams Boston Lager® also uses only the finest of ingredients including two row barley, as well as German Noble aroma hops. The exclusive use of two row barley not only imparts a full, smooth body but also gives the beer a wide spectrum of malt flavor ranging from slightly sweet to caramel to slightly roasted. The Noble hops varieties, Hallertau Mittelfruh and Tettnang Tettnanger, add a wide range of floral, piney and citrus notes, which are present from the aroma, through the flavor, to the lingering smooth finish. We take great pride in the Noble hops used in our beers. They are hand selected by founder and owner, Jim Koch, and our other brewers from the world’s oldest hops growing area. Among the world’s most expensive, they cost twenty times as much as other hops. Boston Beer Company is so committed to producing beers of the highest quality that, to this day, Jim Koch still tastes each batch of Boston Lager before it is packaged to ensure that it reaches the company's high quality standards. We'll drink to that! #flagshipfebruary #craftbeer #samadams #bostonlager #fortheloveofbeer #craftbeerpioneer

Flagship February Spotlight: PALE ALE by Sierra Nevada The beginning. A classic. Sierra's most popular beer. Pale Ale began as a home brewer’s dream, grew into an icon, and inspired countless brewers to follow a passion of their own. Its unique piney and grapefruit aromas from the use of whole-cone American hops have fascinated beer drinkers for decades and made this beer a classic, yet it remains new, complex and surprising to thousands of beer drinkers every day. It is—as it always has been—all natural, bottle conditioned and refreshingly bold. We've been selling it since the late 1980's. When was the last time you picked one up? #flagshipfebruary #craftbeer #paleale #pioneers #oldiesbutgoodies #welovegreatbeer

FLAGSHIP FEBRUARY SPOTLIGHT: ABITA AMBER by Abita Brewing Company Abita Brewing Company was one of the first craft breweries to hit the scene in our region. Founded in 1986, the brewery is nestled in the piney woods 30 miles north of New Orleans. In its first year, the brewery produced 1,500 barrels of beer. Today, Abita brews more than 151,000 barrels of beer and 9,100 barrels of root beer in its state-of-the-art brewing facility. Their lagers and ales are brewed in small batches, hand-crafted by a team of dedicated workers with only the highest ideals of quality. Abita is privately owned and operated by local shareholders, many who have been with them since day one. Abita's flagship beer, Abita Amber, is a Munich style lager brewed with pale and caramel malts and German Perle hops. It has a smooth, malty, slightly caramel flavor and a rich amber color. It was the first beer offered by the brewery and continues to be its leading seller. Amber is Abita’s most versatile beer for pairing with food. It has been voted "best beer" in numerous New Orleans reader polls and is used frequently in recipes of great Louisiana chefs. For many in our area, Abita Amber may have been the first craft beer they ever tried. We encourage you to pick up one again! #FlagshipFebruary #craftbeer #oldiesbutgoodies
